Balancing Reflection and Expression
One of the main struggles when it comes to writing a blog post is what idea/thought I want to share (of course I know that I will never advertise this blog, and I will never make anything SEO-related, and of course, as I explain in one of my first posts, this is just a way of training myself on writing in English), and don't guess me wrong, my problem it's not what idea chose, but the fact is that I not always have an idea to share.
Ideas come from different sources, one of the most important is absorbing other's ideas, by reading etc., not passively consuming other's work but intentionally reflecting on that. So now, one of my major concerns is that despite the fact I think I consume mostly in an intentional way, the "results" are not so encouraging.
So what is the best way to fuel the mind, I know everyone knows the answer... by reading.
Reading is an activity that serves as the foundation of knowledge acquisition. When we read, we engage with the ideas, experiences, and wisdom of others. This engagement is crucial, especially when our own thoughts are scarce or when we feel a lack of inspiration.
You will even improve your Vocabulary which could bring a more sophisticated way of thinking, a more complex (think about for a second every slogan, powerful in its simplicity, but so stupid if you think about it for a few minutes), that could bring to more thoughts and a more efficacy when you will wrestle with other's ideas.
The necessity of writing is something that I experienced only in the last two years, more or less, but I started it as an exercise for clarity and articulation. When you find yourself overwhelmed with thoughts, writing becomes a necessary outlet (probably my first attempt was the distraction list near my laptop when I'm working, or for emotional release, I wrote thousands of pages filled by my stream of consciousness just to bring all those things out).
Writing forces us to organize our thoughts in a coherent manner (not at the beginning, but with practice you will stop to do *). It helps in structuring ideas and presenting them logically, which is crucial for effective communication (this one I got it from I don't remember when but is so on point that I want to add to this blog post).
So If I did everything correctly why I had this poor outcome?
First of all, the quality of my reading from time to time drops dramatically (sorry, even crappy self-help). I even tried audiobooks (which by the way I started a campaign against because it's not reading), but that didn't help. Then the purpose, and what I mean is choosing materials that align with your interests.
On the other side develop the habit of writing regularly, and this blog could help me with that.
But the part that I have to sensibly improve is when I have to reflect and connect all the ideas (the commonplace books are the best way to do it, but it is not here where I will discuss it), take a few moments to reflect on what you’ve learned and how it connects to your own thoughts. And hopefully even writing about these reflections can deepen the understanding of those ideas.
