My relationship with coffee

I have a strange relationship with coffee, I mean, real coffee... so I mean espresso. I'm kidding, I love every form of coffee, but if I have to choose, my top two are espresso and Chemex.

I started to drink cappuccino (or latte, but it depends on where you are from) at a very young age.
After that, I started in high school to drink black coffee, with no sugar. It was cheap, and a good way to make a quick break with my friends, and I never stopped (at least most of the time).

It's good and has amazing effects too. It's even a cheap way to use the toilet when you have to, and the toilet is for customers only.

I never felt any problem with caffeine, but after university, I tried to cut my intake of it because I wanted to check if my sleep would improve, and it did.

When I started my first job I started again, and it's fair to say that I abused it (the regular cups as usual, plus the other in a coffee break with my colleagues). But unlike before, I started to have more negative side effects.

So basically, the way it goes is this. At some point, I stopped drinking coffee, I had headaches for 3/4 days, and after that, I started to gain back more energy, and my sleep improved (not only the quantity, but the quality too). At a certain point something happens, lunch with someone, friends show up etc. and I drink it again, I like it, but I will promise to myself to not abuse it anymore, but one cup follows another, I start to sleep less and drink more coffee, next I will sleep even less, and to add something more, I will even eat more, so I will feel tired more, and my sleep, again, gets worse.

But in the end, I think it's not worth it, the idea is that short-term rewards (a quick way to be more alert, to avoid feeling tired) are not so valuable to me if it's the cost, so good coffee headaches to me... again.
